Since 1966, Sun Valley Heli-Ski Guides has offered incomparable backcountry guide service. As the birthplace of United States helicopter skiing, SVHSG holds the country’s longest standing operations permit and brings to our quests an outstanding record of safety, terrain quality, and over 100 years of collective experience by our team of guides.

The winter of 2005 marks the twenty first year that SVHSG has been under the ownership of lead guide Mark Baumgardner. He, along with lead guides Pete Patterson and Bozo Cardozo, who are also marking their twenty first year of guiding, are testimony to the level of dedication and professionalism that distinguish SVHSG as the United States’ preeminent heli-ski operation.

Located in Sun Valley, Idaho, SVHSG has over 750-square-miles of terrain in three mountain ranges. This prime location gives our guests access to the services and ski area of the Sun Valley Resort as well as amenities in the neighboring town of Ketchum, such as fine dining and year-round cultural events. While a day spent skiing or boarding from the helicopter is always an exhilarating adventure, much of our terrain is ideal for the first-time or family heli-ski experience. Our permit gives us access to a variety of terrain, including inviting, low-angle slopes, which allow us to customize your trip based on your level of experience.
